Overview

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department at EMS Memorial Hospital in Perinthalmanna is dedicated to helping patients recover from injuries, illnesses, and disabilities that affect their physical abilities. Our team of highly skilled physicians and therapists work together to create customized treatment plans that address the individual needs of each patient. Our goal is to help patients regain their mobility, independence, and quality of life.

We provide a wide range of services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and pain management. Our team also specializes in the management of chronic conditions such as arthritis, stroke, and spinal cord injuries. We use the latest technology and techniques to help our patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Short wave Diathermy & Interferential therapy: These are electrotherapy treatments used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve blood circulation in conditions like arthritis, tendonitis, and muscle strains. Short wave diathermy uses high-frequency electromagnetic waves to heat deep tissues while interferential therapy uses electrical currents to stimulate nerves and muscles.

Ultra sound therapy: It is a non-invasive treatment used to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation caused by conditions like tendonitis, bursitis, and muscle strains. Ultrasound waves are applied to the affected area, which improves circulation and promotes tissue healing.

Infrared Radiation & Moist Heat Therapy: These are thermal therapy treatments that help in pain relief and muscle relaxation. Infrared radiation therapy uses heat generated by infrared rays to improve blood circulation and relieve pain. Moist heat therapy, on the other hand, uses moist heat to ease muscle tension, reduce pain, and increase joint mobility.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): It is a non-invasive therapy that uses electrical impulses to relieve pain caused by conditions like back pain, neck pain, and arthritis. TENS therapy helps in reducing pain by blocking pain signals from reaching the brain.

Muscle Stimulation: This is an electrotherapy treatment that uses electrical impulses to stimulate muscles and improve their strength and function. It is used in conditions like muscle weakness, paralysis, and spasticity.

Intermittent Traction, Auto Traction, and Wax Therapy: These are non-surgical therapies used to treat spinal disorders, including herniated discs and sciatica. Intermittent traction involves the use of a machine to stretch the spine, reducing pressure on the nerves. Auto traction is similar to intermittent traction, but the machine is controlled by a computer. Wax therapy involves the application of warm wax to the affected area, which helps in pain relief and improves joint mobility.

Stroke, Cardiothoracic & Ortho Rehabilitation: These are specialized rehabilitation programs designed to help patients recover from conditions like stroke, heart disease, and orthopaedic injuries. The treatment may involve physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies to help patients regain their strength, mobility, and independence.

Spine Rehabilitation & Neuro Developmental Therapy: These are rehabilitation programs designed to help patients with spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders like cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease.

At EMS Memorial Hospital, we are committed to providing compassionate care and support to our patients throughout their rehabilitation journey. We strive to empower our patients to reach their full potential and live their lives to the fullest.
