Overview

The Neurology & Interventional Neurology department at EMS Memorial Hospital & Research Centre offers a wide range of services to diagnose and treat neurological conditions. Our hospital has state-of-the-art medical equipment and qualified and experienced doctors and other medical staff who ensure that every patient receives utmost care and top-notch treatment in a timely manner.

Comprehensive management for stroke and paralysis including Mechanical Thrombolysis and Intravenous Thrombolysis: The department offers a comprehensive approach to the management of stroke and paralysis, which includes advanced treatments such as Mechanical Thrombolysis and Intravenous Thrombolysis. These treatments help in dissolving the clot that blocks blood flow to the brain, thereby reducing the risk of long-term disability.

Carotid Stenting: This is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat carotid artery stenosis (narrowing of the carotid artery), which can lead to stroke. The procedure involves placing a stent, a small, expandable metal mesh tube, inside the carotid artery to keep it open and improve blood flow to the brain.

Coiling of aneurysm for SAH & Flow diverter deployment: This procedure helps to treat brain aneurysms, which are weakened areas in the wall of a blood vessel in the brain that, if ruptures, cause brain bleeding. Coiling involves filling the aneurysm with tiny platinum coils to block blood low and prevent rupture. Flow diverter deployment involves placing a small, mesh-like stent across the neck of the aneurysm to divert blood flow away from the aneurysm and prevent rupture.

Glue Embolization of AVM: This is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), which are abnormal tangles of blood vessels in the brain that can cause bleeding, seizures, and other neurological problems. The procedure involves injecting medical-grade glue into the abnormal blood vessels to block blood flow and reduce the risk of bleeding.

Diagnostic Cerebral Angiogram: This is a diagnostic procedure used to visualize blood vessels in the brain and diagnose conditions such as aneurysms, AVMs, and other vascular abnormalities. The procedure involves injecting a contrast agent into the blood vessels and using X-rays to produce images of the blood vessels.

Complete Diagnostic and Therapeutic tools for Epilepsy: The department offers a range of diagnostic tools such as EEG, video EEG, and other advanced imaging studies to accurately diagnose epilepsy. The department also offers a range of therapeutic options such as medications, dietary therapy, and surgical options such as temporal lobectomy, hemispherectomy, and corpus callosotomy.

Headache clinic and Dementia clinic: The department offers specialized clinics for headaches and dementia to provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of these conditions.

Movement disorder clinic: This clinic provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, tremors, dystonia, and other related conditions.

Botox clinic: The department offers Botox injections for the treatment of various neurological conditions such as migraine headaches, cervical dystonia, and spasticity.

Epilepsy clinic and neuromuscular disease clinic: These clinics provide specialized evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for epilepsy and neuromuscular disorders respectively.

Neurophysiology Lab for EEG, VEP, BERA, NCV, EMG and Sleep lab with PSG: The department has a state-of-the-art neurophysiology lab that offers a range of diagnostic tests such as EEG, VEP, BERA, NCV, and EMG to diagnose neurological conditions. The department also has a sleep lab with PSG (polysomnography) to evaluate and diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and narcolepsy.
